Chris Graefensteiner is living and working in Berlin and San Francisco
Nature: During the last few years of my career as a painter I have become increasingly captivated how the
atmosphere of different locations has shaped the thoughts and works of a wide range of seminal contemporary and historic
artists and inspired prolific achievements in their writing, photography and painting. Taking photographs in the Northern
Californian Mountains started me to work on two of my major series "Natur/Nature" and "Between Worlds/Zwischen den Welten"
which express my deep bond to this area and shaped up a new understanding of home inside me. The inner condition of being
"between worlds" has become my constant companion over the last years.
